Master Sei-ichi Mochizuki passed away on the 3rd of this month in Shimizu, Japan, at the age of 67, due to an immunodeficiency ailment. Invited a few years ago to a summer camp in France by Master Hiroo Mochizuki (a namesake but not relative) Sei-ichi Mochizuki had impressed the camp participants with his vivacity, technicity and kindness, as well as with his singing ability (he performed a traditional Japanese song on a sai demontrattion by Master Masaki Kan). A very short man, he had discovered techniques suitable to small size martial arts practitioners. Dynamic, always in a good mood and very social, he was highly appreciated by everyone. Since he was very faithful and dedicated, Master Hiroo Mochizuki expected a lot from him in terms of development of Yoseikan Budo in Japan. They met recently, this April in Shizuoka, during the YWF Japanese seminar.
With his passing, Yoseikan is losing a heartly, valuable and estimated person. YWF and Master Hiroo Mochizuki jointly send their respects and condolances to this family.
110 adults and children from 9 countries including Japan, USA (Florida and Texas)and Madagascar joined this first camp in Aix. Additionally local teens invited by the city sports promotion program came to enjoy initiation to Yoseikan. Needless to say, this first ever camp in Aix was a great achievement.
All day long courses by Master Mochizuki and his sons Mitchi and Kyoshi, discovery trips for everyone with the guidance of local clubs' people, wonderful weather
all made this camp a very successful and sunny event.
There was a lot on offer; very cooperative city personnel, green environment, large faciltites and dojo, a restaurant with an outdoor patio, swimming pool and camping grounds right next door, the sea and mountains and Cezanne-like
sceneries. The beautiful city and its many cultural, touristic and gastronomic attractions did satisfy the most demanding appetites.
Let’s bet that through word of mouth, next year Aix rendez-vous will gather even more people.
